STEM Evolution’s vision "To Empower Future Generations to Create a Better World Through Science and Technology and Enable Humankind to Live in Balance with the Natural World". From the moment we are born, there is an innate curiosity programmed within each of us! The brain of a new-born baby is about one quarter of the size of an average adult, growing to about 80% in the first 3 years and 90% in the first five years. It is therefore so important to nurture inquisitive minds from pre-school age. Science has had its place in sculpting the society today, but the harsh reality is that this has come at a cost to our planet. Everyone has the ability to harness science for the better! To truly do this, our love and learning of the science subjects from a young age should be more holistic, taking lessons learnt and changing the stigma that goes with career opportunities in this sector. STEM Evolution aims to widen conversations between Professional Bodies, industry leaders and schools to encourage children to be inquisitive and embrace innovation, to spark young minds to create a better future.

Having worked for over 20 years in the Design, Construction and Manufacturing industry, I have become aware of the many challenges that faces this Sector and progressing careers in STEM. From being one of few ethnic minority females in the work environment, dealing with the challenges of getting organisations to fund innovation and carbon cutting initiatives to tackling the skills shortage. These are problems across all STEM sectors. However, through better communication, media and talking more widely about everyday challenges in the world around us. We can embrace a deeper passion of STEM and global obstacles can be overcome to create a brighter and more sustainable world for future generations.
